This course meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Colorado Division of Early Care and Learning (DECL) requirements and pre-service child care licensing requirements for center-based child care programs and schools compliant in Standard Precautions (formerly referred to as Universal Precautions).
The purpose of this course is to equip daycare and childcare providers with the information necessary to recognize potential sites for disease transmission, as well as the skills necessary to prevent it. OSHA guidelines for Universal Precautions are discussed. Upon completion of this course, students will: understand Universal Precautions and how they help protect from blood-borne pathogens, be able to identify situations in which there is the potential for disease transmission, know specific measures that can be taken to prevent disease transmission, be able to name the major blood-borne pathogens that pose a threat to staff and children, and understand the importance of taking universal precautions.
This program also includes how to stop the spread of germs and bacteria in the childcare environment. Information on vaccinations and exposure protocol in the workplace.
